I have been to countless events in my time, you see, I was born
Jewish so Bar mitzvah’s and Bat mitzvah’s were a weekly occurrence
for me in my youth and as I grew up, the events I frequented
became much more “night life” orientated and a tad more debauched
(Oh, there were a lot of weddings in between too). So one thing I
have come to know is that decor and comfort are the most important
thing at these events (barring the actual celebration) and chairs
that fit the theme or the style of the event play a prominent
role.
I’ll never forget going to a bar mitzvah that had an ‘Arabian
Nights’ theme. (This would have been an awesome idea if it was a
metaphor for bringing peace to Jewish and Arab societies… alas, it
was more about showing off style and class.) The hall was
brilliantly decorated and the seating is what caught my eye, and
the tween party goer’s eye’s, the most. The chairs were not
‘chairs’ as such. They were chairs that looked like lush cushions
– adding to the ‘Arabian nights’ theme perfectly. This, to me,
proved how important seating actually is for an occasion… adding
to the elegance, the class, the theme or in the case, adding to
the ‘show off’ factor of the event.
There are so many kinds of chairs to consider for your specific
event and a party planner will help finding what would suit your
vision most. Choose from wooden chairs (great for an outdoorsy
event or mid-summer nights dream themed event), lush lounge
couches (used for the bride and groom at some weddings, or used
for an Ancient Greek themed event), modern glass chairs (great for
a winter wonderland theme or simply a ‘chic’ event), bar stools
(for that 50’s feel) or the popular ‘draped’ chair that I see used
at a lot of functions, from weddings to bar mitzvah’s.
With so many options to choose from, your dream event will come
to light… and down to the simplest and finest detail. It’s all
about the details… seating included.
